It's time to go Back...to the Future. By which I mean, we're going back into the past to talk about Futurism. Which seems like it would be cool, but it was started by this terrible guy Martinetti, who also wrote the Italian Fascist manifesto. He was just the worst, but, at least he was the worst in a way that makes a pretty compelling video.
We'll also check in with the Russian theater, and learn about generally nicer Futurist Vsevolod Meyerhold, who also was vey influential in constructivism. So get ready to fire up the meaning machine and learn!

Soviet art is the visual art that was produced after the October Socialist Revolution of 1917 in Soviet Russia and Soviet Union (1922 - 1991). The birth of the Soviet Art was preceded throughout the 1920s by an era of intense ideological competition between different artistic groupings each striving to ensure their own views would have priority in determining the forms and directions in which Soviet Art was to develop, seeking to occupy key posts in cultural institutions and to win the favor and support of the authorities. This struggle was made even more bitter by the growing crisis of radical leftist art. At the turn of the 1930s, many avant-garde tendencies had exhausted themselves and began depicting real-life objects, as it attempts to return to the traditional system of painted images. Officially approved art was required to follow the doctrine of Socialist Realism. In the spring of 1932, the Central Committee of the Communist Party decreed that all existing literary and artistic groups and organizations should be disbanded and replaced with unified associations of creative professions. Accordingly, the Moscow and Leningrad Union of Artists was established in August 1932, which brought the history of post-revolutionary art to a close. The epoch of Soviet art began. Russian tee. We are coving a quick summary of the history of Russian futurism. What are the inspirations they had and who are the people? The focus will be Vladimir Mayakovsky and Velimir Khlebnikov. Russian futurism is quite different from Italian futurism. Women are quite an important part of Russian futurism, While many would call Italian futurism sexist. In red flood this is called kavkaz society.

Performance Art by art historian, critic, and curator RoseLee Goldberg is a comprehensive study of the century-long history of the medium. First published in 1979 and extensively updated and expanded in subsequent editions (the latest revision came out in 2011), this pioneering book has been translated into eight languages. Its first Russian edition, released to accompany the international conference, Performance Art: Ethics in Action, which took place at Garage during 12-14 December 2013, is supplemented with a special chapter on contemporary Russian performance practices.

Goldberg covers the global rise of performance art from the first Futurist experiments of 1909 to the present day. For the entire period, performance has been used as an effective weapon against art conventions, a "way of bringing to life the many formal and conceptual ideas on which the making of art is based." According to the author, performance art is "avant-garde's avant-garde": "performance manifestos, from the Futurists to the present, have been the expression of dissidents who have attempted to find other means to evaluate art experience in everyday life."
